The day started out at the mid-morning hour of 9 am-ish. Everyone gathered for breakfast prepared by none other than Jen once more before praying for each other on the team and heading out into the city. Like yesterday, two groups split off, but this time, it wasn't gender based. One group (Bob, Wendy, Destini, Surina, and Ashley) set off towards Eagle Street to help out the elderly Cosy couple in cleaning up their home while the other group (Mark, Connor, Brooks, Wes, and Kent) motored back to Hy and Libba's house. Unfortunately, Elijah was struck with 101.2 fever and Mama Piola stayed back at the base with him along with Karen who was nursing a swollen ankle so prayers were covering them from afar. At Hy and Libba's home, the boys were hard at work scrubbing grit and dirt off of the McEnery property line fence. Brooks and Connor also picked figs for an elderly neighbor on the street. Meanwhile, the group that headed towards Eagle Street spent a few hours cleaning up the humble Cosy abode wherever they were needed. Whether it was dusting rooms, mopping, or scrubbing bath tubs, the group got it done! Mrs. Cosy was generous enough to send them back with some apples for the team.
New Orleans Bible Church had been kind enough to extend the invitation to anyone who desired to for their Thursday night Bible Study on Acts 2 at seven o'clock tonight so time was a bit limited. Dinner consisted of Italian Night entrees before the select few made their way downstairs towards the Bible study with Pastor Wes leading them all with a huge grin ear to ear on his face. Those who went described the study as "meaty", "an expository type teaching", and "in depth examination of God's Word." Those who went felt inspired and provoked some thoughtful questions in hearts.
Thanks for continued prayers!
What a wonderful blessing you are to all the lives you've touched so far. Many many more blessings to come! May all feel restored in the morning and ready to take on the day. I await to hear the stories you will all have when you return home.
