A Special Thank You from our Main Ministry Partners!

LAMB Ministries
5127 Laurel Street
New Orleans, Louisiana 70115
July 24, 2016

Dear Wes, Chris, Kent and Our Wonderful River Church Family,

How we miss you all!! Just think, one day we will all be together, serving our Great God and our Savior, Jesus Christ, together for all eternity!! The week y’all were here was just a taste. just a sample. We live far apart, but the oneness we have in Christ is truly a testimony to “Christ in you (us) the hope of glory”! Colossians 1:27

You all blessed LAMB Ministries, our many kids and Hy and me so much, we will never be able to say thank you enough!! The Lord sent you down to New Orleans, again, to radically help us and the ministry. You really blessed our whole city! When you bless the ministries, the churches and the children and families, you bless the city. And you truly did that!!

The little neighbor children Karen and everyone taught and ministered to have moved already! But, they are only a short distance away and we will pick them up for Bible Study! They were very sad when y’all left. Tia, and Taja didn’t move and they promised Alasia, Frank, Laylay and Tamaj that they won’t leave them out!! The kids and the adults in our ministry all ask when you are coming back. They ask about each one by name, especially Brooks! You were examples of Jesus to them. They felt His love through you. They felt His sacrifice through your hard work. You impacted their hearts!! You impacted all of our hearts!! Thank you for the forever difference you made in all of our lives.

Since y’all left, we have already had a family stay upstairs with us in the big room you worked so hard in!! And they loved it!! Y’all repaired the bathroom last year, and this year you transformed the entire space!! We told them about you and thanked the Lord together for you all. And our green fence is lovely! It really causes the house to glow! And the paintings are on the wall! It’s starting to look like a real working B&B! It’s nearly ready to start earning its keep, supporting LAMB Ministries!! Hoorraayyyyy! Thank you all so much for your huge labors of love!

We look forward to seeing our Wisconsin family some day soon again!! Everyone is welcome here, at our house or at the Church.

We miss you and we thank you and we love you, Hy and Libba

July 4, 2016

Today was the huge Feed the Multitudes event! For Wes, cooking for this occasion is a highlight for his year. Our team members are encouraged to choose the volunteer station that they feel led by God to work in. After the powerful worship rally last night, a lot of hearts were moved. Two team members (Kent and Surina) were both unexpectedly led to go work with the feet washing/shoe distribution area. Destini felt pulled to work two different areas (the kids station and the spa station). Jen felt it best to utilize her medical expertise in the First Aid tent. Mark felt the call for a parking director. Bob's background with law work made his choice obvious: security crew. Those are just a few of what our team members signed up for. However, on the actual day of the event, a couple plans veered onto God's true course.

Elijah and Connor went around with free prayer signs, Brooks felt an urge to go towards a man whom he ended up spending the majority of the afternoon talking to, and Jen, who actually came to find the First Aid tent fully staffed already, was the main photographer for this event with the "missions camera". If there was any time to expect divine appointments during this missions trip, it would likely happen at this event.. and happen they did! As aforementioned, Brooks was used through God to speak with the homeless man for much of the time spent at the event, Wendy was powerfully moved through the Spirit's strong presence in the worship tent, and Ashley was able to hand out some of her Love As Jesus bracelets to women she painted nails for. In the shoe tent, supplies had been running low and it was happening too soon -- if the shoes ran out early on in the day, several people would be left without the blessing of the service. The station group prayed and, not long after,  a woman from JC Penny's walked in with donations of the exact number and exact sizes of shoes needed. Talk about a total "praise God!" moment!

We spent the evening preparing tacos and leftover (from Feed the Multitudes) jambalaya then deciding to go on an adventure. Bob, Trachelle, Mark, Kent, Surina, Destini, and Ashley set off to downtown New Orleans to watch the fireworks over the riverwalk while others who needed to stay back and physically/spiritually recover from the day did so. While the select few who went to the downtown for fireworks, they ended up praying over a couple of women in the park and passing on some wristbands to them.

Tomorrow is our last day in NOLA (New Orleans, Louisiana) and prayers for proper spiritual reflection on this mission as well as prayers for packing/cleaning up would be, as always, greatly appreciated!

Feed the Multitudes Almost Over

I just took a walk around the Victory Center grounds observing the thousands of happy people eating, playing, worshiping, praying, being baptized, getting hair and nails done, worshipping, getting their feet washed (and receiving new shoes), picking up fruit, going down water slides, getting their faces painted, receiving balloon animals, relaxing and resting in the shade.
There is a profound spirit of peace here and God's presence is evident everywhere! I am so proud of our diverse team serving with smiles and huge hearts!
May God bless Victory Fellowship and especially Pastor Bailey!

July 2, 2016

Date: July 2,  2016
Destination: The French Quarter & McEnery Home

When thinking of today, "hot" is the best word to describe physical conditions. Same could go for the spiritual conditions -- it was on fire today! If you're a faithful subscriber to this blog, then you've probably already seen some of the previous posts from today concerning the free prayer ministry and the heat so we need not emphasize too much..

After the legendary and traditional beignet stop at Cafe du Monde in the French Quarter, three groups split off downtown with two groups with free prayer signs and one group simply doing a powerful prayer walk over the city. Several team members were experiencing this impactful yet unusual ministry for the first time and ended up experiencing some divine appointments of sorts. Brooks had an army veteran with a hip problem get down on his knees and pray over Brooks for about ten full minutes. Surina was able to pray with a deaf woman who was rallying support for the Deaf Olympics. Destini's prayers gave a new meaning to the phrase "powerful spiritual warfare prayers". These are just some of the events that happened. Prayers for the people the team members were privileged enough to have in their lives for a brief time would be so, so appreciated as some of their situations are extremely hard right now and they're in desperate need of a good dose of God's love and faithfulness on them.

In no time at all, we were due back at the cars. From there, the Wes Mobile + company (Wes, Kent, Karen, Surina, and Brooks) went straight to the McEnery residence where they were soon joined by the rest. From there, home repairs were made. Some tackled the attic (where significant progress was made and a cockroach corpse may or may not have been found) and others decided to continue pursuing the hallway picture-hanging path. Step by step, organization and progress are becoming more visible.

Desperate Reality show was a success, but so much more emotion went on behind the scenes. Four people chose to find refuge in the New Orleans Mission for a safe recovery and help for addictions and things similar to that. Many team members were struck with the revelations that this kind of thing is real and that stories of addictions and homelessness on the streets aren't just stories on a Facebook feed. They were dealing with several people with, as mentioned before, serious addictions and things even worse. It caused a lot of strong, spiritual confliction in hearts, so continued prayer support is greatly appreciated. However, the best quotable description was, "It was off the charts intense, but I loved every second of it."

Sorry this is up a little later, but better late than never! Prayers for our big Feed the Multitudes rally would be greatly appreciated!!

With the Rescue Teams on Desperate Reality Reality Outreach

Most of the adults on our team participated in the New Orleans Mission outreach "Desperate Reality:  Facing the Truth" last evening from 9pm to midnight.  This is a new rescue reality show, but this is very real!
Most of us joined one of two rescue vans, heading out to various downtown sites, wherever there might be groups of people struggling with homelessness or addictions.  Some of us counseled,  some prayed, all encouraged people to trust Jesus.  Additionally, free rides to the New Orleans Mission were offered, so people could receive real help.  And, get this, lots of this was done LIVE on radio!
This was the fourth night for Desperate Reality:  Facing the Truth, a live radio rescue of hurting people, aired on WWL Radio AM 8870 and 105.3 FM.
Several of our team were in the radio station, interceding as well.
This ministry follows the example of Jesus, in Luke 19:10, "For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost."
This ministry, is staffed by men who have themselves escaped the desperation and desolation of addiction or homelessness.
As our team begins to process last evening, words include "raw", "enthusiasm", "Spirit moving", "heart-breaking, "Holy Ghost conviction" and "true compassion" are being used.
May God bless all our mighty Prayer Warriors for praying us through and may God continue to bless the Desperate Reality Ministry!

It's HOT!

Praise Report from Free Prayer and Prayer Walks

We just finished our first Free Prayer and Prayer Walk in the French Quarter! Our weather app says it feels like 103•, but the team did a fantastic job in 5 teams spread out over several blocks. Some of those who received prayer were homeless, some workers in the restaurants and some tourists. The whole team is energized, asking when we can do it again! God bless our mighty prayer warriors for praying us through!
In the French Quarter today, we prayed with Robin and then he prayed for us!
Before we could pray for our new friend, Captain Red Beard, he came up to us and prayed for us!

BIG PRAYER REQUEST FOR JULY 2

Late tonight, we separate
into two groups for ministry to the homeless.
Some of us will team up with street teams to locate the homeless and determine needs, from 9pm-midnight.
Others will join the radio team from WRMO from 10pm to midnight on Desperate Reality Radio Show where they will take call ins from the street teams and others.  We will be prayer support in the studio during the broadcast.
Please listen along LIVE tonight and join us in intercessory prayer at http://www.desperatereality.com/.

July 1, 2016

Today was a rather simpler day when it came to the groups: one group of thirteen people piled into two cars and drove to Hy and Libba's house together.  From that point, certain team members literally fell out of the car and into a certain head pastor's unexpected arms and lost a shoe in the process. So yeah, totally casual arrival there. Once safely into the beautifully vintage McEnery home, two groups formed: the fence painting crew and the girls Bible study/beading group. The painting crew (Mark, Brooks, Connor, Kent, Elijah, and Jen) wasted no time hustling outside with their paint buckets and brushes in hand. Together, they completed painting about 40% of the property line fencing in the scorching sun.

Meanwhile, inside, Karen, Ashley, Surina, and Destini prepared for a bead making-necklace making afternoon with some of the city girls that Libba drove in. Destini and Karen, heads of the bead making department, led the girls in creating their own paper beads with toothpicks and paper strips until there were enough to form their own unique necklaces. We had about 10-12 young girls show up along with 2 little boys as well! Miss Libba came back with Wendy's sandwiches and fries for all of the kids as well as, which was an extremely generous gesture, for the mission team members. Bob and Wendy worked up and down the house's main hall hanging and re-adjusting framed paintings for Hy and Libba through it all.

We wrapped up around 3pm or so since we had, at that point, thought we had a missions appointment at an outreach center in downtown NOLA. However, there was a dates mix-up and our outreach center time was scheduled for a day later in the trip. So that left one missions team sitting together in the main room tossing around ideas of how to fill their night with something fun. It started as going to see a movie, then paint-balling, then the mall, then finally deciding on laser tag. Trachelle accompanied us on the little adventure which turned out as an especially fun team bonding time after a long day of hard work. Laser tag was soon followed by cosmic bumper cars in which shouts of "Get Wes!" and "Trachelle, I'm coming for you!" and our own Pastor Wes's battlecry of, "SHARK WEEK!!!" as his car rammed into another unfortunate's with a fiendish gleam of childlike joy on his face. All in all, it was a very "give and take" sort of day where more prayers were answered and God worked through hearts of mission members as well as those impacted by our work and hearts.

As always, thanks so much for the continued prayer support! We can't thank you all enough!

Praise Reports!

June 30, 2016

The day started out at the mid-morning hour of 9 am-ish. Everyone gathered for breakfast prepared by none other than Jen once more before praying for each other on the team and heading out into the city. Like yesterday, two groups split off, but this time, it wasn't gender based. One group (Bob, Wendy, Destini, Surina, and Ashley) set off towards Eagle Street to help out the elderly Cosy couple in cleaning up their home while the other group (Mark, Connor, Brooks, Wes, and Kent) motored back to Hy and Libba's house. Unfortunately, Elijah was struck with 101.2 fever and Mama Piola stayed back at the base with him along with Karen who was nursing a swollen ankle so prayers were covering them from afar. At Hy and Libba's home, the boys were hard at work scrubbing grit and dirt off of the McEnery property line fence. Brooks and Connor also picked figs for an elderly neighbor on the street. Meanwhile, the group that headed towards Eagle Street spent a few hours cleaning up the humble Cosy abode wherever they were needed. Whether it was dusting rooms, mopping, or scrubbing bath tubs, the group got it done! Mrs. Cosy was generous enough to send them back with some apples for the team.

New Orleans Bible Church had been kind enough to extend the invitation to anyone who desired to for their Thursday night Bible Study on Acts 2 at seven o'clock tonight so time was a bit limited. Dinner consisted of Italian Night entrees before the select few made their way downstairs towards the Bible study with Pastor Wes leading them all with a huge grin ear to ear on his face. Those who went described the study as "meaty", "an expository type teaching", and "in depth examination of God's Word." Those who went felt inspired and provoked some thoughtful questions in hearts.

Thanks for continued prayers!
